Giver

This is what Lois Lowry had to say to a student when she asked about the end of the book:

Student Question: My teachers argue over the ending of The Giver! How does it really end?
Lois Lowry: It ends with Jonas and Gabriel going downhill in a sled toward a house with welcoming lights. Ho ho ho. Aren't I a mean author, not to be more specific? I like it when you argue. It makes you think.

What i got from this is that is Lois Lowry didn't exactly make an ending to the giver and wanted people to make their own ending. she put that there so people could think and enjoy the giver instead of just having an end and just stop there.

Another thing Lois had to say about the end of the giver:

Of course there are those who could say I can't write a sequel because they die. That's true if I just said, Well, too bad, sorry, they died there in the snow, therefore that's the end, no more books. But I don't think that. I think they're out there somewhere and I think that their life has changed and their life is happy and I would like to think that's true for the people they left behind as well.

Here are two different sights of opinion, one says that she wants you to think and make up your own ending and on the other hand she says that they live. Personally i think that they live, because i don't want there to be a sad and boring ending. It has to be exciting and able to go on to a new life. So here is my ending.

He got closer and closer to the lights until he was so cold he fainted, later that night he woke up with a glass of water next to him and sitting by the fire. Gabriel was in the seat next to him. He heard footsteps coming near him, he quickly shut his eyes. he felt someone jiggling his leg, He opened his eyes. It was a little girl who looked about a five, she looked up at me and asked
     "Who are you?"
i told her i had com here from a different community, i told her to go get her mother so she did. Once i saw her i was shocked, it was Rosemary. She was thirteen years older then me and had  two kids. I told her all about how the giver loved her, she told me that she also ran away right before they were going to kill her. i felt bad that the giver did not come with us. Later that evening we were still taking, she let us stay for the night. but it ended up we stayed longer, a lot longer. She took in me and Gabe as her own and lived like we have known eachother forever. i eventually went on to become the leader of that community and Gabe was my bets friend.

Summary

Summary
http://socyberty.com/issues/advertising-and-its-effects-on-teen-culture/

Everyday ads are everywhere you look. Eventually they will change your behavior and how you act. You can change how you act naturally but sometimes change is not natural. Products like Axe tell you that if you don't use their product you will get no girls. That however is not true. A lot of people go out and buy their product because of that. This says that in order to be cool you have to use their product. Another large part of teen culture is fashion. There are a bunch of magazines that have beautiful girls in them and all the teens want to be like them. So they buy the cloths they model for thinking its cool. The largest part of teen culture is music. A lot of teens listen to music weather its rap or rock or any type of other genre. MTV has a lot of power over what music teens listen to. If they give an unknown band a showtime suddenly they become famous overnight. This shows how major corporations have a lot of power over teens and advertising.

The media can also affect teens in a negative way, if you look in a magazine you see all these pretty skinny girls. All the teen girls want to look like them so they do bad things to their body hoping to get a good image out of it.These magazines make teens feel insecure about how their body looks and how other people view them. They make teens think that the models have a "perfect" body image and that's what its suppose to look like. A person may feel unhappy with his or her weight and feel unhappy about life in general. Then teens end up with diseases like bulimia and anorexia.

Research

Research
Everywhere you go there are ads while watching TV, driving, listening to the radio, reading a magazine or surfing the internet.
A large part of teen culture is fashion, these trends aren't coming from the teenagers themselves.
Magazines influence teens (the magazines usually are targeting teens/young adults) with ads that have cool slogans or beautiful models.

Most teens listen to some genre of music whether it be rock, rap, hip hop, country, techno or metal. The artists that create this music have a huge influence on teens. MTV can turn any band into superstars. All MTV has to do is find any unknown band, give them show time and market them like crazy and they become famous.
Also Hollywood and famous has a huge impact on teen cultures. Everyone wants to be famous  when they grow up and make millions.

20% Project

I am doing my 20% project on black hole  i plan to research everything there is on how  black holes, how they are created and what they are made from. Mostly anything tat has to do with a black hole. Most of the things i already found out about black holes were very interesting.Once i finish researching i will present to the class most of the things I have learned about black holes. some problems i may encounter is finding all the information before we are even done researching things on our 20% project.I am trying to learn basically how black holes function.

What I've Learned from 2012

There are many things i have learned from 2012 but the most important thing i learned was responsibility. This is a very important trait to learn for when you get older. I learned responsibility because mostly everyday my brother Matt, would go out to hokey practice or a game. I would be home alone with my dog every time because my other brother Luke would be sleeping the whole day then go over a friends house i would have to take care of my dog. So i had to basically do everything she wanted, i had to walk her, feed her, give her water, and play with her everyday. I had to do everything that needed to be done around the house and what my parents usually did around the house. For when i had soccer I had to make sure that i had all my stuff. The mos important thing I've learned from 2012 is responsibility.

Teen culture

You are seeing ads while watching TV, driving, listening to the radio, reading a magazine or browsing the internet. All of these ads will eventually change how you act, dress or what kind of music you listen to.Some teenagers try to be like the people in advertisements.  At times, this could be a positive if something like volunteering or helping out in the community is being advertised.  This isn’t usually the case. Most of the time you are observed as “cool” by the advertisement if you act a certain way, or use their product.
There are many ads that have male models not getting girls then once they use the product a bunch of pretty girls come up to him. This i basically saying if do not use our product then you can not get girls. This is an example of how advertisements persuade teens. Another way ads persuade teens is by modeling. Have you ever seen an ugly girl modeling in clothes for a store. That is saying that if you buy our clothes or makeup you will be pretty like this girl and attract.
Also Hollywood and famous has a huge impact on teen cultures. Everyone wants to be famous  when they grow up and make millions. So they try to act like the people they want to become. They will try to become skinny by not eating instead of eating right and working out. They try different methods like diet pills. Everyone wants to be the most popular in their school. Teens try to act like the cool people in tv shows hoping to be cool in school too.
The biggest part of teen culture is probably music. If you listen to modern music these song are almost all inappropriate. This really affects teen culture. Mtv used to influence teens the most but now they don't show music. Parents often do not listen to the same music as their  kids. They often listen to music from when they were kids. But there are other times when they do listen to modern music.
TV is a big part of teen culture because of all the show showing how other people live and act. another big part of teen culture is advertisements, there are always women on ads that supposedly have the “perfect” face. Also Hollywood and famous has a huge impact on teen cultures, almost everyone had a time in their life thinking they want to be famous, Last music i a very big part of culture because all these bad things go into the child’s mind.

GARDNER AND GREGORC TESTS

I agree to my learning styles according to the Gardner and Gregorc tests. On the Gardner test i am Intrapersonal, Bodily-Kinesthetic, and logical-Mathematical. On the Gardner test I'm Concrete Random which is Independent, creative, Risk-Takers, Problem-Solvers, etc. This knowledge could help me in school by if there is a really big test coming up i can study by moving around.
One of the people i admire is Albert Einstein because of how many awards he has. I think Einstein was  very logical thinker, off of the research i have done on him. Another person i admire is Rick Riordan because  he writes really good stories, im on his second book of his Heroes Of Olympus series. I think he is a Linguistic leaner because he is a writer. The last person I admire is Lincon Pierce because of his Big Nate series, iv read all of the books from his series. I also think he is a linguistic because he is a writer.
